Engineering for institutions that move real money
Financial Services
In financial services the software is the institution: it holds the money, enforces the rules and carries the licence. That weight shapes how we engineer here. Financial services solutions delivered under version-controlled controls, staged change and evidence a regulator can follow, from core modernisation to the newest AI underwriting model.
Control-first delivery, in brief
How regulated change ships here, from control map to reusable audit evidence.

Start where the drag is worst.
A resistant core, manual compliance, a delayed digital launch and distrusted risk numbers are the four pressures that bring institutions here. Pick yours and the fitting practices surface with their reasoning, each one a real page with scope and proof behind it.
The platform holding accounts, policies or loans fights every release.Staged modernisation de-risks the core while custom engineering builds the capabilities the old platform never could.
Regulatory returns are assembled by hand from systems that disagree. The data practice builds one governed source for regulatory numbers, and AI automates the assembly where evaluation supports it.
Customers expect an experience your current stack cannot deliver. The FinTech hub carries product patterns for lending, payments and wealth, and custom engineering builds what is uniquely yours.
Credit, fraud and exposure models run on data nobody fully trusts.Risk models are only as honest as their pipeline. Data engineering fixes the foundation, then AI sharpens the models on top.

02Controls before code
Delivery a regulator could sit in on.
Financial engagements run on a delivery system built for scrutiny. Change is staged and reversible, controls are code, and every decision that touches money or reporting leaves a trail. It is slower to promise and faster to pass inspection.
Frame the regulatory exposure
The rules touching the system, from data residency to model governance, are mapped before design. Surprises here are the expensive kind.
A control map for the changeDesign for inspection
Segregation of duties, immutable logs and reconciliation points are designed into the architecture, giving your risk function something to approve rather than something to chase.
Audit-ready architectureChange money systems in stages
Anything touching balances or reporting moves behind parallel runs and rehearsed rollbacks. The institution never bets its licence on a deploy.
Releases proven twiceHand over the control record
Releases ship with their control evidence: test records, approvals and data lineage. Your next regulatory exam starts from a folder, not a hunt.

03What banks, lenders and insurers commission
Financial services engineering, by the name buyers search for.
An institution rarely buys engineering in the abstract; it buys core modernisation, regulatory reporting or a payments integration with a control framework attached. Each row names the service, the deliverable, the standards it must satisfy and the practice accountable for it.
| What you need | What we build | Standards and integrations | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core banking modernisation | Staged replacement of account, ledger and lending cores behind parallel runs and rehearsed rollback | ISO 20022, SWIFT MT and MX, Temenos and Finastra APIs, Basel III reporting feeds | Legacy Modernization |
| Regulatory reporting automation | One governed reporting pipeline with lineage on every figure, from source ledger to filed return | COREP and FINREP, Basel III Pillar 3, MiFID II transaction reporting, XBRL | Data Modernization |
| Payments and open banking integration | Payment initiation, account aggregation and settlement connectors with consent and strong customer authentication | PSD2, Open Banking UK standard, ISO 20022, PCI DSS 4.0, SWIFT gpi | FinTech |
| Custom banking and wealth platforms | Purpose-built origination, servicing and portfolio systems for workflows no vendor package covers | ISO/IEC 27001 control set, FIX protocol for trading, ISO 20022, GDPR | Custom Software Development |
| Fraud, AML and risk model engineering | Transaction monitoring, credit risk and fraud models with model governance, drift monitoring and human override | FATF recommendations, EU AI Act, SR 11-7 model risk guidance, FCA Consumer Duty | Machine Learning Development |
| Security engineering and penetration testing | Threat modelling, secure build pipelines and tested controls for systems that hold money | PCI DSS 4.0, DORA, NIST CSF 2.0, OWASP ASVS | Cybersecurity Hub |
ISO 20022
The message standard now carries payments, securities and reporting data in structured XML, so data models for any new payments or ledger work follow its schemas from the outset.
DORA
The EU Digital Operational Resilience Act requires financial entities to test ICT resilience, manage third-party risk and report incidents. Runbooks, rehearsed rollbacks and vendor evidence packs are built to that regime.
SWIFT
Cross-border payments and securities messages travel over the SWIFT network under the Customer Security Programme, so any system touching the gateway is built to those attestable controls and message validation rules.
Basel III and COREP
Capital and liquidity returns require figures reconciled to the ledger with documented lineage. Reporting pipelines are built so a regulator can trace any filed number back to its source transactions.
04Evidence and proof
Institutions that changed without incident.
Financial proof carries a double burden: the outcome and the control evidence behind it. These previews show that standard while written approvals are secured.

A core ledger replatformed with the regulator informed, not alarmed.
Oakhurst Mutual Bank faced an end-of-life runtime under a compliance deadline. Parallel running proved equivalence and the switch passed without a customer noticing.

Regulatory returns assembled in hours instead of weeks.
A lending group compiled returns from eleven disagreeing systems. One governed reporting pipeline gave every figure a lineage and cut the cycle to hours.

Our regulator asked how the migration was controlled. We handed over their evidence pack and the meeting got shorter.

05Three doors for institutions
Pick the door that fits your mandate.
Institutions arrive with different mandates: fix the estate, prove a product, or bring capability into the risk function. The doors below route each mandate to its practice, and the map above goes deeper by pressure. Every route carries the same control-first discipline, whatever the size of the engagement.
- Project Scoping
Scope the regulated change
A priced engagement that maps the control surface, the architecture and the staged plan before budgets or regulators are engaged.
- Custom Software Development
Build the differentiated system
Custom engineering for the workflows that make your institution different, under the sector's control standard.
- AI & Automation
Put AI into the risk stack
Fraud, underwriting and service automation from the AI practice, with evaluation evidence your model governance can file.
06Straight answers
Asked by institutions before engaging.
01Do you work with regulated institutions directly?
Yes, including inside their vendor-risk and outsourcing frameworks. Due diligence packs, control attestations and audit rights are familiar territory, and our delivery evidence is designed to slot into your regulator's expectations rather than fight them.
02How do you modernise a core system without regulatory risk?
By keeping every change reversible and every state provable. Parallel runs demonstrate equivalence before cutover, rollbacks are rehearsed rather than theoretical, and the regulator-facing narrative writes itself from the evidence. The modernisation practice carries the detailed method.
03Can you build customer-facing financial products too?
Yes, through the FinTech practice for lending, payments and wealth patterns, and through custom engineering when the product is uniquely yours. A financial services company gets both the product speed and the institutional control discipline in one engagement.
04How is AI governed in financial use cases?
Under model governance from the start: documented training data, evaluation suites, drift monitoring and human override on any decision affecting a customer's money. If a use case cannot meet that bar, we say so before it becomes a supervisory finding.
05What does financial sector engineering cost?
The control burden adds real cost and pretending otherwise ends badly, so pricing follows the mapped control surface from scoping. Staged delivery keeps each commitment reviewable, and the first stage is usually small enough to approve without a committee.
06Do you handle data residency and sovereignty requirements?
As architecture constraints from the first diagram. Residency, sovereignty and cross-border transfer rules shape hosting, replication and access design, and the resulting data map goes to your compliance function as a deliverable.
07Can your teams pass our vendor security review?
That review is usually our first artefact exchange. Security posture, access controls, development practices and insurance are documented and ready, and we treat a rigorous review as a good sign about the client rather than an obstacle.
