Project Synopsis
In Workday, there is a provision to migrate the report/integrations or dashboard from one tenant to another but for the same client. But it does not allow you to migrate from one client tenant to a different client tenant.
iDB Tenant tools allow you to migrate from an Alight POV tenant to a client non-production tenant and save your effort to build the items manually.
So, for now, I will explain some of the iDB features in this case study.
Solution Implementation
Tenant tool has different tools:
Dependencies and Migration – Returns all matching objects and their dependencies.
Development Process
– Business Process Dependencies: Returns all matching objects and their dependencies.
Dashboard Dependencies: Returns all matching objects and their dependencies.
Integration Dependencies: Copies a notification from one integration system to other integration systems
Reference ID Mappings: Allows you to map reference IDs missing in the target tenant to other reference IDs or exclude them completely during an object migration.
Report Dependencies: Returns all matching objects and their dependencies.
Validation Rule Dependencies: Returns all matching objects and their dependencies.
Where Used Report: This report requires Configuration Tracker to be run before it will generate results. This tool generates a report pf where all objects and class report fields are used in the tenant. This tool is for Sallie Mae client only.
Architecture
Copies a notification from one integration system to other integration systems
- Integration Notification Copier: Copies a notification from one integration system to other integration systems
To run the tools on the iDB’s Dashboard for Tenant tools, the tenants must be configured in iDB under the customer purview.
Setting up Tenant in iDB
- Login to iDB
- Navigate to the customer in iDB by searching for the customer’s name in the search bar.
- Click to the Tenants tab
- Click the Add Tenant button.
Fill in the tenant information. The tools need at least these fields populated:
- Tenant Name – This shows up as the tenant’s name in the dropdowns, so make it something that makes sense
- URL – This is how I figure out the datacentre and the Workday tenant name
- Implementer Username – This can be anyone’s login information with implementer access. Please note that any consultant resourced on the project can piggyback off this login to use the tools.
- Implementer Password – Password for the username above in the tenant. The password will be encrypted in our database.
Click the Projects tab to verify you are an assigned resource for one of that customer’s projects. The security is restricted such that only consultants resourced on a project for that customer can use the tools on that customer’s tenants.
Documentation
Generates an Alight-branded Excel spreadsheet documenting business processes found in the tenant.
- Business Process Template Generator: Generates an Alight branded Excel spreadsheet documenting business processes found in the tenant.
- Object Comparison: Compares objects between two tenants.
- Security Analyzer: Creates a report of security groups assigned to domain and business process security policies with an option to compare config between tenants.
